Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy could be understood as the science of well-being & means the application of Yoga for the support of healing & vitality practices that increase the quality of life regardless of age, circumstances, or initial physical ability.

श्री Krishnamacharya attracted many people to the spectacle of Yoga during his years in Mysuru, such as the famous Maharaja of Mysore. However, during his work in Chennai he was especially sought after as a healer with his application of Yoga, Mantra, Breath, etc. to heal individuals from ailments.

Some principal students: the famous teacher B.K.S. Iyengar, Krishnamachara's son T.K.V. Desikachar, & A.G. Mohan who wrote the first book on the specific subject, continued the research & expanded on the therapeutic application of Yoga among which the traditional roots found the modern science.

The Yoga works!
But, no one-size-fits-all...

With an inappropriate approach (because we are all multidimensional not just corporeal) Yoga can result in negative effects, increasing ignorance (avidyā), disillusionment (māyā) and suffering (dukkha) rather than the original intention of freeing ourselves from suffering & increasing the quality of life (sukha).

θεραπεία

The root of the word therapy comes from ancient Greek and means "to serve" or "to heal".

During Jared's first training, he learned the connection between Flow Yoga & Mindfulness based on neuroscience.

From there it was clear that the teacher facilitates the healing space and must attend to the participants, however it is only the individual who can do the process and call upon his own energies.

Jared is currently completing the international certification of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT).
